WinstonSalem State University seeks an experienced dynamic and strategic leader to drive our philanthropic efforts and enhance our external relations as the Vice Chancellor of University Advancement and Executive Director of the WSSU Foundation . This dual role is crucial in fostering a culture of philanthropy and ensuring WSSUs financial sustainability. Position Overview: As the Vice Chancellor of University Advancement and Executive Director of the WSSU Foundation you will: Develop and execute strategic plans for development and alumni functions. Lead the identification cultivation solicitation and stewardship of major donors. Serve as a key member of the Chancellors Executive Leadership Team. Work closely with the WSSU Foundation Executive Board to govern and steward the Foundations assets. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Design and deliver a comprehensive advancement strategy aligning with WSSUs vision and goals. Fundraising: Cultivate and solicit major gifts from individuals corporations and foundations. Alumni Engagement: Oversee the Office of Alumni Engagement and enhance alumni participation and giving. Communications: Develop and implement a communications plan to enhance WSSUs image and visibility. Campaigns: Plan and manage capital campaigns and fundraising events. Qualifications: Proven leadership experience in university advancement or a related field. Strong strategic planning and skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Experience in major gift cultivation and solicitation. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Preferred Years Experience Skills Training Education
Preference will be given to those with a doctoral degree and/or at least ten years of related senior executive level experience. Preference will be given to those who demonstrate previous experience in a higher education advancement at a senior leadership level. Familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities of fundraising within historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Desired attributes include: Proven track record of developing and implementing strategic plans risk analysis or other institutionwide strategic efforts aligned with the institutions vision mission and goals. Outstanding analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data assess trends and identify opportunities and risks that drive decisionmaking and measure success. Effective communication and collaboration skills with diverse stakeholders including university leaders faculty staff students board members and external partners. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Track record of policy development and institutional protocol revisions in higher education based on continuous improvement data. Exceptional critical thinking judgment and decisionmaking skills including the ability to weigh short and longterm costs/risks and benefits of a potential action. Experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders in a higher education setting. High ethical standards and a commitment to transparency and accountability.
