Opportunity at a Glance


Reporting to the Manager of Instructional Design within Waldens Office of Teaching and Learning Excellence (OTLE) the Instructional Designer role is responsible for designing and creating engaging and compelling learning activities and content in conjunction with key stakeholders. With a heavy emphasis on interactive and multimedia technologydriven components this role requires extensive collaboration between content course development and educational technology colleagues and teams to apply best practices of instructional design to create highquality and innovative solutions for faculty. The Instructional Designer will also develop and disseminate course design standards provide courselevel and/or projectlevel management support to development efforts and measure and analyze course effectiveness and usability across the curriculum. 

Responsibilities

  • Blend traditional learning approaches with existing and new technologies in order to create and deliver optimal training programs.  
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to develop learning objectives and training content and ensure that the information is current accurate and complete.  
  • Prioritize design and train the trainer on programs and curricula. 
  • Develop training aligned with Walden Universitys goals and mission. 
  • Design and develop interactive learning content including learning objectives simulation scenarios graphical art/media and valid/reliable assessments.
  • Develop and maintain assessment processes that monitor and evaluate performance skills based on outcomes tied to organizational effectiveness.  
  • Maintain and revise materials developed as needed.  
  • Develop promote and maintain knowledge of adult learning theory and practice.  
  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging learning systems and current methodologies.
  • Use the ADDIE model and innovative immersive learning methodologies in curriculum design and development as well as adult learning theory in course/curriculum design. 
  • Conduct training needs analysis to determine training objectives instructional strategies project scope. 
  • Deliver accurate highquality training courses and documentation within a specified timeline and through the application of best practices and standards. 
  • Determine the best visual communication layout and design for training materials in order to enhance the learning and development of employees.
  • Perform quality checks on all deliverables for content accuracy and effectiveness. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

 


Qualifications :

  • Bachelors Degree in Instructional Design Organizational Development Education or related business discipline required.
  • Masters Degree in Instructional Design Organizational Development Education or related business discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of instructional design experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience using elearning authoring tools and Learning Management Systems (LMS) required. 
  • Experience with distance learning preferred.
  • Experience with Canvas Microsoft Office Suite Articulate 360 or comparable authoring tools. 
  • Familiar with instructional system design models such as ADDIE. 
  • Experience with story boarding creation and review process. 
  • Excellent leadership communication team participation team building and human relation skills. 
  • Ability to write effectively in both business and academic styles. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational and workload management skills attention to detail and personal accountability. 
  • Consultative approach to problem solving with demonstrated ability to creatively solve problems. 
  • Ability to grasp complex subject matter and synthesize information quickly. 
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment with ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds in a collaborative manner. 


Additional Information :

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country the expected salary range for this position is between $53520 and $93918. Actual pay will be adjusted based on jobrelated factors permitted by law such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
