The National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) hosts the Professional Research Experience Program (PREP) which is designed to provide valuable laboratory experience and financial assistance to undergraduates postbachelors degree holders graduate students masters degree holders postdocs and faculty. PREP is a 5year cooperative agreement between NIST laboratories and participating PREP Universities to establish a collaborative research relationship between NIST and U.S. institutions of higher education in the following disciplines including (but may not be limited to) biochemistry biological sciences chemistry computer science engineering electronics materials science mathematics nanoscale science neutron science physical science physics and statistics.

Readout Systems for Quantum Sensors and Qubits based on Superconducting Devices

The work will entail:
The successful applicant will develop readout systems for quantum sensors and qubits based on superconducting devices. These readout systems will consist of microwave components amplifiers and highspeed data acquisition systems using field programmablegate arrays. The sensors and readout circuitry will make use of superconducting materials low temperatures and quantum mechanical effects. Key goals are to realize more sensitive and larger format sensor and readout circuits. The successful applicant will also support testing or perform testing of sensors and readout circuitry at ambient and cryogenic temperatures.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity experience education specialty and training.
The above salary range or hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
