The Bronx District Attorneys Office seeks a wellqualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Trial Division seeksan experienced attorney 10 years) to serve as Chief of the Misdemeanor Trial Bureau. This position involves the daytoday oversight of processing cases in the District Attorneys Office and supervises all Bureau staff (legal and support). Reporting to the Trial Division Deputy Chief the Bureau Chief will serve as the leader of the Bureau overseeing prosecutions training and management of the Bureau.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and implement prosecution strategies to aid in the effective handling of criminal cases in Bronx County
Oversee the assignment of cases
Report to Deputy Division Chief regarding the productivity of the Bureau
Participate in meetings and conferences between the District Attorneys Office and other law enforcement agencies
Serve on the faculty for the Offices Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs including Orientation Training for new Assistants Grand Jury training and both Felony and Misdemeanor Trial Training programs
Daytoday supervision responsibilities of Bureau staff including but not limited to attendance training and development
Prepare case status and statistical reports as required
Be oncall on rotating nights/weekends to handle response to cases and make case assessments
All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Juris Doctorate 10 years of trial experience required or the equivalent including 4 years of prior management experience preferred
New York State residency and US Citizenship required as of the first day of employment
Excellent people skills and demeanor
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word Outlook and Excel
Excellent presentation and organizational skills
Ability to exercise soundjudgment and strong ethics
Ability to analytically solve issues or problems from inception through conclusion Ability to motivate organize and direct all levels of staff in various responsibilities
Working knowledge of investigative methods
Must understand and respond clearly and effectively (oral/written) to complex legal issues
