Accounting Adjunct

Position Overview:

Note: Adjunct positions at UCO are parttime teaching positions. This posting is to create a pool of interested applicants from which the Department may draw as sections become open at any point in the current academic year. This posting may or may not result in the hiring of adjuncts. Adjunct Faculty provides a quality learning experience for students on a semester basis. Adjunct faculty reports to a dean or chair and performs instructionrelated duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning.

College/Department Overview:

The College of Business has 76 fulltime faculty and 40 parttime faculty in 6 academic departments: Accounting Economics Finance Information Systems & Operations Management Management and Marketing. The College currently offers 13 undergraduate majors serving more than 2500 students and 2 graduate programs serving more than 100 students combined. The faculty and staff of the College are committed to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in support of our efforts to prepare students to become productive ethical and engaged citizens and business leaders while promoting commerce and advancing the quality of life in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

University of Central Oklahoma Dept. of Accounting invites applications for adjunct positions to teach introduction to principles of accounting cost individual taxation business entity taxation auditing ethics financial accounting and other related accounting courses.

A masters degree in Accounting or MBA with a CPA and current senior level or higher accounting experience or a doctorate in Accounting is required. A JD with professional tax practice will be considered for tax positions. Teaching experience is preferred. Online teaching experience may also be preferred for certain classes. Other specific experience in the accounting related to the teaching area may be required. Specialized certifications and licenses are required for some classes.

Note: Adjunct positions at UCO are parttime teaching positions. Qualifications

Experience Required:

Possesses at least a masters degree in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Possesses excellent communication problemsolving and organizational skills.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Masters degree in Accounting with an emphasis in Taxation preferred. Other masters degrees considered. Professional certification preferred. Must have either current professional experience or current academic research in accounting/taxation to be considered. Previous teaching experience preferred but not required.
