Job Description

The University of Nevada Las Vegas invites applications for Custodial Worker II UNLV Student Union & Event Services R0146656

ROLE of the POSITION

Under the direction of the Custodial Supervisor I and/or Associate Director for Student Union Facilities & Operations Custodial Worker IIs perform general cleaning services to the facility using various cleaning equipment and materials in order to provide a safe hygienic and orderly work environment for all users.

Student Union (SU) custodial staff have primary responsibility for maintaining cleanliness for the 135000 square foot Student Union building which includes thoroughly cleaning all meeting rooms offices hallways closets/storage rooms stairways entrances/exits dining areas lounges the Theater the SORCE Room Scarlet & Grey Free Press offices SIA/SLL offices CSUN offices SUES offices Student Life offices Information Technology Offices OIT Computer Lab RebelCard offices Rebel Copy Send and Intersection offices.

Additional areas of responsibility include the immediate exterior areas of the SU facility including trash/waste bins seating sidewalks stairways service areas/loading dock Pida Plaza & SU Courtyard. Limited cleanliness responsibilities will also be applied to some food retail outlets and other facilities including Starbucks Jamba Juice Scarlet Sage FCR POD Convenience Store and the UNLV Bookstore.

Responsibilities include: trash removal floor care (sweeping mopping stripping/waxing buffing vacuuming & shampooing of carpets) window washing daily office cleaning polishing furniture/fixtures moving of furniture storage room organization light maintenance repair of miscellaneous equipment operating machinery (including scissor lift electric strippers buffers vacuums extractors and rider scrubber machines) opening & locking of facility and various other duties as assigned. Priority applicants will possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advancedlevel work.

Possible Shift Schedules Could Include:

Swing Shift: ThursdayMonday: 2PM10:30PM (Off Tuesday & Wednesday) OR

Graveyard Shift: TuesdaySaturday: 10PM6:30AM (Off Sunday & Monday)

*Possible schedule availability is subject to change during the application process. Final shift schedule will be made known upon offer.

Custodial staff will occasionally be required to work outside their standard work schedule including special events holidays weekends late evenings and/or early mornings as determined by the Associate Director for Student Union Facilities & Operations with advanced notice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 202311 ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL JUNE 30TH 2025. Please refer to the link for more information:

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and six months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial industrial hospital governmental or similar environment; OR six months of general work experience and six months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial industrial hospital governmental or similar environment; OR six months of experience as a Custodial Worker Trainee in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of building maintenance equipment (floor machines riders lifts extractors etc. & practices.

SALARY

Grade 23 CBA A E F Step 1 salary 40569.84. Step means the number assigned by the Division of Human Resource Management to identify a specific rate of pay within a grade. Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170 salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
