We are a new neuroscience group studying the cellular basis of learning and memory in the mammalian brain. This is an ideal position for someone passionate about doing research within a highly collaborative team and looking to gain mentored handson laboratory experience in preparation for graduate or medical school.
This position has three main responsibilities: First it is to support the PI in basic lab management tasks i.e. ordering equipment (especially during the lab startup period) and supplies. Second it is to manage the mouse colony i.e. mouse husbandry cage changing and basic health checks. Finally it is to support other lab members in their ongoing experiments and if there is time to work on independent research projects under the PIs supervision.
This is an ideal transitional position for a recent college graduate in the life sciences who aims to pursue a career in Neuroscience be it in academic or biotech research.
Key Responsibilities include:
Manage the labs mouse colony 20
Lab management (ordering equipment and supplies) 20
Support ongoing research/supervision of undergraduate students 50
Work on their own research projects 5
Provide administrative support 5
Qualifications:
AS or equivalent in Neuroscience Biology Engineering or equivalent. Bachelors degree strongly preferred
Excellent organizational skills
Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
Ideally previous laboratory experience
Ideally a 2year commitment
A strong desire to learn how to do research
