Job Description
The Resource Teacher leads a dynamic team working to meet the needs of every student in a diverse population. In coordination with teachers and administration the Special Education Teacher provides in class and pullout support for students needing support or enrichment. The position includes communication and record keeping as well as serving on two student support teams. The position requires knowledge and understanding of special education guidelines and strategies.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate the Student Advocacy Teams instructional efforts.
- Work with individual and small groups of students in and outside of the classroom.
- Maintain records of student progress
- Coordinate with classroom teachers and school administrators.
- As a leader of the Student Advocacy Team; help to identify students needing assistance or challenge work and provide resources.
- Supervise the implementation of student accommodation plans.
- Provide support to teachers of students with accommodations.
- Provide support and resources to English language learners.
- Maintain student records for interventions.
- Develop and review student accommodation plans annually.
- Meet with parents to discuss student accommodations and progress.
Position Qualifications
- Strong communication skills.
- Passion for helping students.
- Willingness to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to research resources and best practices.
- Ability to organize and coordinate team efforts.
- Understanding of language acquisition.
- Special education teaching experience needed; preferably at least 3 years of experience.
- MSDE Certification in Special Education.
Range: $47692 $91482 Annually
