Job Description

The Drug Metabolism and Disposition group in QTAS has an open position for a Senior Scientist to perform drug metabolism studies supporting drug discovery and development. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and conducting in vivo and in vitro investigations interpret results and strive to answer key scientific questions in drug metabolism and disposition.  Duties will be focused on laboratory work and the applicant will collaborate across various disciplines within AbbVie. It would be advantageous for the candidate to have practical experience performing in vivo and in vitro biotransformation studies mass spectrometry structure identification analytical method development metabolite profiling handling radioactive compounds and possess strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities: 

  • Design perform interpret and report appropriate data from in vivo and in vitro studies for identifying metabolite structures and associated pathways
  • Communicate data interpretation to QTAS colleagues project teams and management
  • Routinely operate LCMS/MS instrumentation including maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Potential to represent QTAS on cross functional project teams drive compounds in development and is responsible to answer key questions.
  • Writing or contributing to study reports and regulatory submissions.
  • Keeps wellinformed of literature; Evaluate new methods technologies study designs and equipment.

Qualifications :

  • Motivated Ph.D. in life sciences with typically 4 years of experience MS with 10 years of experience or BS with 12 years of relevant academic or industry research experience in small molecule development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mass spectrometry liquid chromatography and structure ID
  • General understanding of DMPK processes including method development metabolite profiling metabolic processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills the ability to work independently and work well within a team
  • Strong presentation and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Creates a learning environment open to suggestions and experimentation for improvement
  • Embraces the ideas of others nurtures innovation and manages innovation to reality

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
