Harris County Universal Services (Universal Services) is transforming the way the County does business and seeking a Telecommunication & AV Manager to join our team.
Universal Services is the enterprise IT solutions center for the departments and offices of Harris County providing Information Technology Public Safety and Justice Technologies 311 Constituent Engagement Services Fleet Services and Records and Information Governance Services.

Position Overview:
The Telecommunications/AV Manager work focuses on planning the voice AV and cabling implementations determining physical and logical layouts installing configuring and maintaining data and voice networks including: Meeting end users needs by ensuring the uptime performance resource availability and security of the managed platforms within established budgets and operational guidelines. Experience with determining and diagramming the physical layout that illustrates the physical locations of devices and the connections between them is an essential part of the process. This Manager leads a team and sets daily operational objectives. While challenges may be significant they are generally straightforward. The Manager also ensures that policies and procedures are clearly communicated and followed by direct reports customers and stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
Coordinating remote and onsite field service activities with Voice and AV Field Services staff and customers.
Tracking staff during maintenance activities and ensuring that the tasks are completed on time.
Tracking personnel improvement and proposing corrective actions such as extra training as necessary.
Performing diagnostics and troubleshooting when necessary including timely identification and remedy of any issues.
Providing technical support to customers and Field Service staff (both remote and onsite support at times).
Documentation of the above activities by compiling notes and records of activities and problems encountered and reporting these into the ticketing system.
Communicating with vendors on open tickets and providing an escalation point for highprofile issues.
Ensuring proper maintenance of telecommunications and unified communications platforms to ensure proper operation.
Manage cabling vendors for various tasks including data network cabling A/V equipment TV installation etc.
General office duties as needed.

Education:
Bachelors Degree in Voice Services Computer Science Information Systems or related field.
Experience:
Five plus years of related experience.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Must possess excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
The ability to interact with staff at all levels.
Strong knowledge of Voice and AV systems personal computers and various software specifically Microsoft Office.
