The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Division of Project Delivery Planning Sectionis looking for a Transportation Planner 1 in Juneau to help usKeep Alaska Moving!


What you will be doing:

This position reports to the Multimodal Transportation Planning Chief (PCN 252744.The position will be part of the State Transit Office within theDivision of Project Delivery Planning Section managing the administrative transit requirements and funding streams for public and human services grant programs. Tasks include determining the appropriate project funding supporting applicants and monitoring projects for compliance with federal and state requirements. Additionally the role involves identifying short and longrange plans and program needs for public transit technical assistance and training as well as identifying potential resources available to state local and private transit programs or grantees to help meet those needs

This position will be located in Juneau at 3132 Channel Dr (DOT 3Mile Building). There are comfortable office environments. Ample parking is provided as well as break time walking. Microsoft Teams is currently being utilized in lieu of many inperson meetings for peertopeer communications and staff meetings.

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

  • Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work sets priorities and determines resource requirements; determines short or longterm goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of the principles methods or tools for developing scheduling coordinating and managing projects and resources including monitoring and inspecting costs work and contractor performance.
  • Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of the principles and methods to identify analyze specify design and manage functional and infrastructure requirements; includes translating functional requirements into technical requirements used for logical design or presenting alternative technologies or approaches.

Any combination of education certification and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Postsecondary education in urban regional transportation or landscape planning;

AND/OR

Experience which involves some combination of the design of research projects setting standards for technical adequacy and/or coordinating the planning contributions of lower level planners or other agencies in environmental transportation or community development; architecture; civil engineering; landscape architecture; urban design; historic preservation; geography; geographic information systems; housing administration; grant administration; accounting; business management; or research.
