Position Summary:
The Resident Director is a fulltime livein professional who leads all aspects of a residence hall complex housing.Job Description:
Position: Western Colorado University invites applications for the fulltime position of Resident Director. The position reports to Residence Lifes Associate Director of Community Development & Standards and works closely with Residence Lifes Associate Director of Community Wellness and is a fulltime livein professional responsible for the oversight of a residence hall complex and the students who reside in that building.
Responsibilities: The Resident Director is responsible for all aspects of a residence hall complex housing of approximately 100 to 350 residents. This position is responsible for community development student staff supervision implementations of divisional curriculum advising community council policy enforcement coordinating custodial and maintenance summer conference duties furniture inventory oncall duty rotation and serves on the University conduct team.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree
Experience advising developing mentoring and motivating a diverse student staff team
Demonstrated problemsolving and critical thinking skills
Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently both independently and within a team
Must be able to work some evenings and weekends
Significant student leadership experience in a college/university setting
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education Counseling Educational Administration or related field
Experience creating implementing & assessing a residential curricular model
Experience supporting student mental health crisis response and/or oncall responsibilities
Experience advising student groups
Experience building collaborative partnerships with faculty students parents/families and/or community partners
Strong interpersonal oral and written communication skills
Experience as a Resident Assistant Residence Life Graduate Assistant Resident Director or similar livein Residence Life position
Compensation: $43888 annually. The position is FLSA exempt. Western offers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan dental insurance retirement plan life insurance and other insurance options. After one year of employment Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
