Job Description

Job Summary

The Physics Department at UFV currently offers Physics Honours Major and Minor programs within the BSc. The department also offers a 1st year Engineering Common Core certificate program and a twoyear diploma program in Engineering Physics (specializing in Mechatronics) as well as a few service courses to other program students.

The department is seeking qualified applicants for sessional lecture and lab instructor positions for theacademic year. Applicants should have successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level and communicate effectively with students both in and out of the classroom. A number of courses may be available (depending on budget and enrolments) involving first year physics lectures and/or labs in the subject areas of mechanics optics thermodynamics waves fluids and electromagnetism. Qualifications

Minimum requirements for a sessional lecturer are an MSc (PhD preferred) in physics engineering or related field and a demonstrated excellence in teaching. Minimum requirements for a sessional lab instructor are a BSc (MSc or above preferred) in physics engineering or a related field as well as demonstrated excellence in teaching.

How to Apply

Qualified applicants should submit a cover letter indicating whether they are interested in teaching lectures labs or both; a curriculum vitae and recent teaching evaluations which include student feedback on courses taught. Shortlisted candidates will be required to provide the names and contact information of three references.

The Selection Advisory Committee will begin reviewing applications soon after the closing date; however the position will remain open until filled. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and those candidates will be required to deliver a short presentation as part of the interview process.
