Job Description

Schedule: FridayTuesday

  • FridayMonday: 1 PM 9 PM
  • Tuesday: 7 PM 11 PM (Logistics)

Introduction: The Emergency Services Shuttle Driver is responsible for the safe transport of guests to and from the Emergency Shelter Program. This role includes operating and maintaining shuttle vehicles to ensure efficient and secure guest transportation. In addition to driving duties the Shuttle Driver will assist with shelter operations during nondriving hours. The position requires flexibility while adhering to a structured work schedule with the individual reporting to the Driver Supervisor or Program Manager.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a clean unrestricted driving record and be comfortable driving large vehicles (typically 24 in length) with wide turning radii. The candidate should be skilled in working with diverse groups and possess strong organizational and prioritization abilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for providing clear instructions and conveying important information.

Creating a positive professional and safe environment is key as is maintaining strong working relationships. Candidates should be patient and understanding when assisting individuals in need of urgent case management or health support.

The ability to remain focused and drive safely in potentially distracting environments is essential. Attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel Outlook and internet browsing is preferred. Reliability responsibility and respectful communication are vital. Knowledge of motor vehicle and engine maintenance is an asset. A valid Class C Drivers License and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. are required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Driving Reporting and Shelter Support:

  • Safely operate program vehicles to designated locations
  • Ensure safety restraints are in good working condition and used correctly when necessary
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and organization
  • Safely load and unload guests ensuring their safety during transport
  • Operate hydraulic wheelchair lifts when needed
  • Plan and document daily routes accounting for various dropoff points
  • Submit daily and weekly route and maintenance reports to management
  • Adapt to changing transportation needs while meeting program objectives
  • Collaborate with a partner on vehicle maintenance issues

Shelter Support:

  • Assist with shelterrelated tasks such as meal service laundry trash removal and maintaining cleanliness

Miscellaneous:

  • Attend required staff meetings
  • Participate in training workshops as necessary
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor
