The Division of Finance Office of Recoveries and Fraud Investigations is seeking an articulate professional who is organized energetic motivated and dependable. This individual must be driven by our vision to build Strong Families South Dakotas Foundation and Our Future. The Office of Recoveries and Fraud is seeking a candidate to fill the role of Investigator. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating cases to ensure that applicants obtain and utilize benefits appropriately according to federal and state regulations. This includes conducting investigations of alleged fraud preparing evidence writing comprehensive reports and interviewing witnesses and subjects of investigation.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- i nterviewing and investigative techniques;
- d ata access procedures;
- e ffective methods of overpayment detection;
- Department of Social Services program policies and procedures;
- r ules and regulations pertaining to recovering improper payments.

- o rganize work set priorities meet critical deadlines and follow up with minimal direction;

- g ather and manage information;
- p repare clear and concise written reports.
Ability to:
- d eal tactfully with others;
- c ommunicate clearly and concisely;
- o bjectively analyze conflicting allegations documents as well as written and verbal statements;
- t estify at hearings;
- e xercise judgement and discretion in applying and interpreting laws regulations and policies;
- draw conclusions based on facts or evidence.
This position is eligible for Veterans Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
