What do we do here Amazon Web Services (AWS) runs one of the largest networks in the world. We are changing the way Networks are conceived designed built and operated by adopting the principles of Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Intent Based Networking (IBN). We derive our network topologies from higher level designs and intents and a distributed software system controls the way we manage our network. We put services and algorithms in place to control and manage all layers of the Amazon network from top of the rack switches in our datacenters (TORs) to our internet and private backbone facing routers. In this senior software dev engineer position you will be designing building and owning highly distributed large scale web services that form a core part of our SDN software ecosystem. You will work with a team of talented developers and principal engineers to build the next generation software services in our space.

What will you be doing here
Design and develop software services for network configuration verification and management.
Work with your dev team build production quality software that meets our definition of done
Participate in sprint demos reviews and planning sessions
Work alongside Senior Engineers and Principals to invent and simplify
Work with management customers and other engineering teams to develop state of the art solutions incorporating new technologies algorithms and innovations.

A day in the life
As an engineer in AIDN you will work closely with AIDNs customers product management team and your immediate team to define the team roadmap create services and respond to our customers needs. You will own endtoend AIDN Services responsibility for design implementation deployment and operational maintenance. These critical services are foundational to AWS Networking and Amazon as a whole. You will collaborate with Principal Engineers as you design these services and you will use best practices to ensure that they are secure scalable and reliable. At the production phase youll be focused on building mechanisms that improve operations for our services and customers.

About the team
Within AWS Networking the AWS Intent Driven Network (AIDN) team creates services and tools that make it easier for Amazon to manage and grow the AWS Network. We own an array of services and tools ranging from highlyavailable distributed systems to customerfacing Command Line Interfaces (CLIs) which bring a variety of engineering problems to solve. The team is working to build and deliver a longlasting solution for our customers that will change the way the AWS Network is managed.

3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language

3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market.
