***** Applicants seeking shortterm or parttime work with the University of Hawaii may apply for Casual Hire positions which include administrative professional and technical (APT) or instructionaltype positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular Board of Regents (BOR) and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for fulltime employees and up to 1 calendar year for parttime employees.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provides administrative support to the Dean and manages the Office of the Dean daytoday functions.
  2. Assists with special events of the school including logistical support in collaboration with the Events Coordinator.
  3. Creates and manages project activities and project management documents i.e. action plans timelines process flow maps etc.
  4. Independently create and draft substantive letters reports and documents for the Deans and Associate Deans Offices.
  5. Collaborate with the associate deans Academic Systems Manager department offices and faculty to prepare process and monitor nursing curricular offerings and revisions.
  6. Demonstrate the highest standards of customer service and responds appropriately to inquiries and concerns demonstrating high level problemsolving and communication skills.
  7. Provide fiscal support for purchasing and travel.
  8. Serve as backup for other institutional support personnel as needed.
  9. Coordinate meetings and record meeting minutes or summaries as requested.
  10. Other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors in business administration social sciences communications education evaluation or related field with three 3 years of experience in project management;
  • Selfstarter with demonstrated ability to learn new operating systems quickly;
  • Demonstrated ability to be wellorganized multitask pay attention to detail and effectively manage projects;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively participate and collaborate as a member of a team;
  • Demonstrates a high level of knowledge and skill in customer service: responsive proactive and calm in crisis situations;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional Suite or related programs;
  • Ability to write technically sound and descriptive reports and procedures exercise proper grammar skills and make concise presentations to targeted audiences;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to problem solve complex problems with tact and diplomacy and referring issues as appropriate to others.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in support services in an academic environment.
  • Previous work experience with University of Hawaii Administrative Policies and Procedures.
  • Familiarity with course overviews and/or course evaluation processes.
