Research Scientist Mass Spec Sweden

As a Research Scientist you will work in the specialist area with Mass Spec conducting and providing technical guidance on scientific method development and/or other specialty technologies studies OR performing troubleshooting for own and others instruments methods procedures and in writing protocols and reports. You will Design and execute method development independently and interpret and review analytical data for self and others. You will routinely act as the technical project leader for multiple projects provide updates reviews and evaluate data write reports and protocols.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently performs analytical method development and method optimization using liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry for qualitative or quantitative analysis.
  • Plan and perform experiments applying a deep understanding of mass spectrometry.
  • Designs and executes experiments independently.
  • Writes reviews and critiques study protocols project status reports final study reports and other projectrelated technical documents.
  • Leads analytical (procedural and instrumental) troubleshooting sessions.
  • Presents posters at technical conferences.
  • Develop and implement novel analytical assays and new methodologies.
  • Drive project timelines and deliverables while meeting Thermo/PPDs internal quality and data integrity requirements.
  • Reviews interprets and analyzes data for technical quality and compliance to protocols methods SOPs client criteria and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Performs self and peer review of the data for accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an indepth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Has a wide range of experience uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (i.e. Team Lead).
  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 8 years).
  • Experience with a range of separation techniques experienced in operating and maintaining LC/MS systems including but not limited to Thermo Altis Sciex and Waters triple quad and ion trap mass spectrometers.
  • Solid understanding on commercial acquisition and processing software such Analyst Multiquant Mass Lynx Target Lynx or Xcalibur is expected.
  • Prior experience with Chromelon is preferred.
  • Expertise developing methods for small and large molecule for quantitative analysis.
  • Experience with oligonucleotides tissue homogenization and complex extraction procedures is expected.
  • Drive and appetite for applying scientific and technical expertise to address complex R&D issues within a multifunctional project team.
  • Ability to author and/or review SOPs method development reports and peerreviewed publications.
  • Candidate should have a keen curiosity about identifying new scientific technologies and novel instrumentations which could potentially improve current workflow.
