Description of Work:

This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical and electromechanical systems of dredge crane barge and tugboats operated by the Division of Ferries. Work involves participating in and supervising the installation maintenance and repair of AC and DC generators switchboards distribution panels lighting and alarm circuits.
Maintenance and repairs are performed without technical supervision; however complex electrical repair problems may be performed under the general supervision of a maintenance supervisor and are reviewed and evaluated through the continued and reliable operation of all electrical systems and their ability to meet U. S. Coast Guard requirements. This position also assists other entities in the Ferry Division at different locations and may require overnight travel. Performs all other related duties as required by the Supervisor.
Duties include but not limited to:
Offer of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of NCDOT and Ferry Divisions drug and FitFor Duty tests.
Employee must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle.
The position works Monday through Friday 8 hour days. Some travel and overnight stay will be required depending on the location of the vessel.
This position will work out of the Cherry Branch Maintenance Facility

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in marine electrical and electromechanical systems maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
