  • 915 hours per week term time only sessions will be split 2 3 hours per pupil/per day potential to extend hours if working with multiple pupils.

Unique to You provides a 1:1 in person bespoke tuition service for children with SEND specialising in teaching children with complex needs including Communication Needs (including nonverbal) Cognition and Learning Needs Sensory Processing Needs Global Development Delay and ASD (autism spectrum disorder).

Unique to You works alongside Suffolk County Council in providing alternative provision for children with SEND who cannot access a school environment and have been allocated tutoring at home within age range of 4 16/Reception Key stage 4.

We are seeking dedicated and passionate alternative provision tutors on a selfemployed basis who are qualified and experienced in delivering highquality teaching to children with SEND. This role is perfect for qualified SEND teachers who are keen to teach children with a variety of needs in person and on a 1:1 basis.

Knowledge and experience

You will:

  • demonstrate your experience in working with children with SEND
  • have knowledge and understanding of various SEND and effective teaching strategies
  • be experienced in teaching numeracy and literacy skills within Reception Key stage 4 and working with a curriculum
  • have knowledge in using ICT to aid teaching and learning
  • be familiar with and conduct yourself in accordance with the Teachers Standards
  • demonstrate knowledge of basic safeguarding and procedures involved in working with children and young people.

Specific skills:

  • Identify strengths as well as existing/potential barriers to a pupils learning and provide opportunities for a pupil to overcome these.
  • Be confident in promoting a total communication approach including Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices to support pupils needs.
  • Plan and teach literacy numeracy skills and other subjects within a personalised curriculum model that is broad balanced and relevant to the pupils stage of learning.
  • Incorporate a variety of teaching strategies to ensure a pupils learning is engaging and purposeful.
  • Evidence pupils learning and apply a variety of assessment methods to assess and monitor pupils progress.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that promotes a pupils engagement and confidence.
  • Be adaptable and ready to teach indoors and outside e.g. accessing the community according to the pupils individual needs and key stage.
  • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written to liaise with pupils families and other professionals providing a holistic approach.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level and qualified teacher (essential).
  • Uphold Qualified Teaching Status (highly desirable).
  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience.

Personal qualities and attributes:

  • Have a calm and patient approach.
  • Be creative and have an aspiring attitude.
  • Build a trusting rapport with pupils.
  • Be able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Have excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Hold a valid driving licence and car available for business use.
