  • About the Team and Work Environment: You will collaborate with a team of highly skilled IT professionals within the FBIs CJIS Division working closely with the Communication Technologies Unit (CTU) and the Technical Integration and Support Unit (TISU). Together these units provide vital networking services and user support for CJIS ensuring law enforcement professionals have the tools and systems necessary to carry out their work effectively.

Typical Day:

A typical day involves installing configuring and maintaining operating system workstations and servers including web servers to meet business processing needs. Youll handle software installations and upgrades ensuring they align with IT policies and procedures. Monitoring system performance tuning for optimal efficiency will be a key responsibility. Youll also manage system backups and database archives to ensure data recoverability. Conducting regular hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with standards and maintaining an uptodate configuration database will be essential parts of your role. Additionally youll develop and promote standard operating procedures to improve system performance and reliability.

Tasks:

  • Diagnosing and resolving complex system issues that may require indepth analysis and creative solutions.
  • Contributing to the design and implementation of new system architectures including server configurations network topology and data storage solutions.
  • Monitoring system performance metrics and identifying bottlenecks to optimize system efficiency and uptime.
  • Implementing robust security measures managing user access controls and staying updated on emerging cyber threats
  • Forecasting future system needs and planning for hardware upgrades or infrastructure scaling to accommodate growth.
  • Providing technical guidance and training to other system administrators on best practices and new technologies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: AA or technical school in computer information systems engineering business or related scientific or technical discipline. CompTIA Security certification is equivalent to a bachelors degree.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of experience with enterprise network administration tools. Education/Experience substitution HS and 7 years.
  • Possess an extensive understanding of specific operating systems hardware network protocols security measures and cloud technologies relevant to their organization
  • Expert knowledge of Linux operating systems including system configuration shell scripting and package management
  • Advanced expertise in managing Windows Server environments Active Directory and related technologies
  • Deep understanding of AWS and Azure cloud platforms including cloud security and resource management
  • Expertise in network infrastructure routing protocols firewalls and network security
  • Experience working in an Agile organization using Scrum XP Kanban and SAFe

Location: Remote

Clearance: Current Top Secret Clearance is required.
