EMPLOYMENT IS SEASONAL AND TEMPORARY** PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Extended School Year (ESY) is a Special Education program for students with disabilities whose IEP team has determined that in order to minimize substantial regression and reduce substantial recoupment time a student is required to attend ESY. These services will be based upon the individual needs of the students per their IEP goals/objectives. REPORTS TO: Position reports to the ESY Director and the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services PROGRAM SCHEDULE: The instructional hours for students are 4 hours per day 4 days per week for 5 weeks from July 7 to August 7 2025. The Social Skills Teacher is expected to:Work all 20 days of the program. Independently plan lessons to prepare for rigorous structured reading Progress Reports in the last week of the with related service providers to address students : An ESY (Extended School Year) Social Skills Teacher focuses on providing individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities particularly in socialemotional and behavioral areas during the summer months with a focus on preventing regression and maintaining skills. implement individualized instruction plans (IEPs) that address students socialemotional and behavioral and deliver engaging lessons and activities that promote social skills emotional regulation and positive instruction to meet the diverse needs of student progress and make adjustments to instruction as accurate and timely student with parents teachers therapists and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student regularly with parents regarding student progress and any a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and social positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) to address challenging classroom crises and deescalate challenging students during arrival dismissal and other in professional development a clean and organized and model appropriate social behaviors such as communication cooperation and conflict students develop empathy selfawareness and selfregulation opportunities for students to practice social skills in a variety of settings. Maintain timely student attendance and progress for program materials and as a partner in planning and problem students to provide information via progress reports at the end of the ESY other related duties as requested by the ESY Site Coordinator or Assistant Superintendent of Student ServicesQUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Bachelors Educator Licensure in Moderate/Severe DisabilitiesSafety Care certifiedCurrent authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
