Job Description
Minimum Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associates Degree preferred.
Required Skills:
- Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum Work Experience:
- Previous supervisor experience preferred.

TheSwitchboard Supervisorperforms proper telephone support for the facility. Performs in lead role for scheduling and training switchboard staff. Receives all incoming calls to the hospital. Does inhouse paging codes and dialapage system. Keeps Switchboard files updated with current room numbers discharged patients new admissions etc. Maintains updated employee information for the disaster procedure files.
Essential Functions:
- Schedules/coordinates staff schedules as directed
- Responsible for demonstration and training of telephone and PBX procedures to operator
- Handles all emergency calls and pages (Emergency 5222 line). Contacts appropriate personnel as situation warrants.
- Handles all intercom paging and general information from inhouse and outside calling parties.
- Evening night weekend and holiday operators may be responsible for contacting oncall personnel as requested by the Nursing Supervisor. Also take and relay messages to oncall persons by paging beeping or calling their home.
- Keep all pertinent information on the bulletin board and disaster policies and procedures updated. Stay abreast of any and all changes which apply to switchboard functions.
- Receives incoming calls to house extensions or patient rooms. Receives calls from inhouse extensions.
- Maintains constant attention and surveillance to physical plant alarms and monitors such as fire alarm monitoring systemmedical gas alarm panel boiler monitor emergency generator alarms and fire pump condition status alerting appropriate personnel of any issues identified
