The Cardiac Device Nurse provides direct care to patients with Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIEDs) in the Cardiac Device Clinic. The Cardiac Device Nurse utilizes knowledge of cardiovascular nursing cardiac electrophysiology and biomedical engineering concepts to assess the technical function of the CIED perform testing and programming of the CIED analyze and interpret device and patient diagnostics and perform accurate clinical documentation as determined by departmental and best practice standards.
The position requires a minimum of one year of cardiology nursing experience and must be proficient is basic ECGs / EKGs interpretation and arrhythmia identification.
In this position the nurse will begin as an RN I spending 6 months in orientation and then function independently with resources. If the leader feels that this person has been successful after 1 year employment and has made sufficient progress nurse will be promoted to Cardiac Device Nurse. This is a baseline requirement for this role. This position offers a lot of growth and advancement!
JOB SUMMARY:
Independently plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in the ambulatory clinic settings in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice.
Meets all requirements for a Registered Nurse Ambulatory/Outpatient II.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred. Two years of acute care experience required. Prefer acute care experience within the last 10 years.
LICENSURE CERTIFICATION and/or REGISTRATION:
Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of North Carolina and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) may be required within one year in select areas.
