The Senior Financial Analyst will be assisting the operations in processing and analyzing of financial data and reviews to drive financial performance and support our business partners. The candidate will also be responsible for setting up of financial data analysis and assisting in the monthend result package supporting the annual budget process and quarterly forecasts.
This position will be located at our Head Office in Markham Ontario and will have flexibility for both remote and inoffice work based on our hybrid work model.
As a Senior Financial Analyst you will have the following Accountabilities:
Period End Close & Reporting (incl. Prepaids Accruals and Other Accounting)
- Executes period end closing activities and completes monthend close checklists.
- Gathers data and performs calculations for accrual and prepaid entries and other month end journal entries.
- Reviews classification of expenses and capitalization of significant expenses
- Generates necessary reports to facilitate period end close.
- Facilitate and present month end results to key decision makers.
Account Reconciliations
- Gathers and reviews data in relation to the preparation of account reconciliations and bank reconciliations.
- Prepares reconciliations and resolves unsupported variance that exceed thresholds.
- Prepares entries for posting related reconciliations write offs and adjustments.
- Gathers required data fields and compiles into standardized reports.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist with the preparation of the annual budget.
- Prepares budget to actual variance analysis providing explanations based on investigation and communication with operations staff.
- Responsible for preparation of monthly forecasting for each home/facility/branch in coordination with operational staff
Management Reporting
- Prepares management reporting packages which includes commentary and supports queries for strategic analysis variances and KPIs.
- Generates standard and recurring management reports and work with Finance Business Partner to provide insight and analysis where needed.
Regulatory Reporting
- Gathers necessary information to prepare required regulatory reporting based on requirements of geographic region for assigned facilities.
- Ensures timely submission of required government and regulatory reporting.
Leadership
- Collaborates builds and maintains relationships with business unit (BU) operational staff and other finance business partners.
- Ensures the BU teams follow Extendicares prescribed accounting systems and procedures; assists with field related problems which impact accounting/finance.
- Leverages financial business and accounting knowledge to drive process improvements and create efficiencies.
- Coaches and provides support to Financial Analyst as required.
- Contributes to special projects as required.
MonthEnd Close

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in business administration Accounting and CPA
- 35 years experience in operations finance and/or accounting related role.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to multitask in a dynamic and fastpaced environment.
- Excellent organizational computer and analytical skills; advanced working knowledge of Excel
- Accounting experience with largescale Enterprise Reporting systems knowledge of Workday preferred
