Job Description
CASUAL CHEF ASSISTANT
Job Function:
- Reports to the Teaching Chef under the direction of the Principal
- Assists the Teaching Chef in the training kitchen/cafeteria with the production and services of daily meals
- Assists the students to learn proper processing methods and evaluating the products
- Assists with the control of foods in progress and a continuous food supply during the lunch periods
- Works with students in training giving guidance both in food production and cleanup
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 graduation
- Two 2 year diploma/certificate in technical school training in Culinary Arts
- Vocational level certificate in Baking
- Food Safe Certification
- Two 2 years of industry experience preferably in a school setting working with teens
- Good organizational skills
- Recognized ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with adults and students
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
- Knowledge of basic accounting procedures spreadsheet and database creation and modification
Hours of Work & Salary:
- Casual shifts range from 4 to 7.5 hours per day Monday Friday while schools are in session
- Shortterm assignments may also be available
- Casual employment may lead to a regular position in the district
- Chef Assistant pay is $34.84 per hour
