Under the direction of the Principal and Band Director the Assistant Band Director leads and oversees the secondary music program teaching and directing a band. They plan rehearsals select music teach music theory and organize performances. Strong leadership communication and musical skills are key to success in this role.
Duties and Responsibilities Specific to Assistant Band Director:
- Directing the Junior High Band 7th8th Grade) to include rehearsals concerts afterschool lessons ASBOA events etc. Nights and weekends are expected during scheduled events
- Assisting with the High School Band 9th12th Grade) to include marching practices rehearsals marching competitions concerts athletic events afterschool lessons ASBOA events etc. Nights and weekends are expected during scheduled events
- Teamteaching the Beginning Band 6th Grade) including likeinstrument and mixed instrument classes rehearsals and concerts
- Teamteaching Jazz Band 9th12th Grade)
- Assist with establishing performance requirements enforcing academic requirements and verifying each students eligibility to participate in band
- Assist with various aspects of program management such as completing ASBOA registrations and coordinating travel arrangements for events
- Assist with managing instrument and music inventory (cleaning recommendation of repair or purchase instrument assignment and storage)
- Working with Rivercrest Band Boosters and supporting booster activities through actions such as promoting the booster club and attending booster club meetings
- Adhering to the high expectations of a superior band program.
- Other teaching responsibilities may be required pending district needs and applicant strengths

Education Experience Competencies:
- Arkansas Teaching License/ ability to obtain teaching credentials
- Citizenship residency or work VISA in United States required
- CDL (Class B) with School Bus Passenger and Air Brakes endorsement or willingness to obtain is preferred
