FROEDTERT AND THE MEDICAL COLLEGE OF WISCONSIN TRANSPLANT SERVICE LINE AND MCW DIVISION OF TRANSPLANT SURGERY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY TRANSPLANT/RECOVERY SURGEON AND OPO MEDICAL DIRECTOR

The Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin (F & MCW) Transplant Service Line and the MCW Division of Transplant Surgery are seeking a Board Certified / Board Eligible Surgeon interested in advancing an academic career in a vibrant and growing transplant center. This Surgeon will work closely with Versiti the local Organ Procurement Organization (OPO).

Is primarily accountable as the OPOs Medical Director and for the surgical recovery process: surgical dissection removal and preparation of selected donor organs for transplantation in the operative setting. It is the responsibility of this surgeon to assist in efforts to increase the availability of organs for transplantation and research by providing highquality recovery services and clinical oversight within the donation service area. The Medical Director/Transplant/Recovery Surgeon also oversees organ donor referral screening and medical management of organ donors.

Opportunity

• Fulltime faculty position within the MCW Division of Transplant Surgery and the Department of Surgery in conjunction with the F & MCW Transplant Service Line
• Opportunity to lead and grow the abdominal recovery program (liver kidney pancreas) including the use of machine perfusion and preservation
• Ensure compliance with CMS and OPTN regulations and/or other medical/legal requirements
• Provide education and training to OPO staff and hospital personnel involved in the donation process
• Serve as an advisor between the organization hospital staff and transplant centers when organ procurement is in progress
• Proactively develop relationships and work collaboratively with transplant centers surgeons and donor hospital staff to optimize donation outcomes and complete any necessary followup post donation cases
• Represent OPO at national societies and conferences such as AOPO AATB ASTS and OPTN meetings
• Responsible for the development implementation and education of the OPOs protocols for referral and donor evaluation management organ recovery/preservation and placement
• Lead the OPOs Medical Advisory Committee
• Participate in the clinical activities of the abdominal transplant program when not performing OPO required activities
• Contribute to the clinical education of fellows residents medical students and other trainees
• Participate in the academic research and educational missions of the institution
