The Pediatric Dental Assistant supports the pediatric dentist in providing excellent patient care to children from infancy through adolescence. This role involves assisting during dental procedures educating patients and parents on oral hygiene and ensuring a positive calming environment for young patients.
Prepare treatment rooms and instruments for pediatric dental procedures.
Assist the dentist during various procedures such as cleanings fillings sealants crowns and extractions.
Take and process dental radiographs (Xrays).
Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
Educate children and their guardians on proper oral hygiene and posttreatment care.
Provide behavior guidance techniques to help children feel comfortable and safe.
Chart patient information and update dental records accurately.
Maintain infection control and adhere to safety procedures.
Monitor inventory and restock supplies as needed.
Schedule appointments and assist with frontdesk duties if necessary.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of an accredited dental assistant program preferred.
Current state Dental Assistant license or certification (if applicable).
CPR/BLS certification required.
Xray certification (as required by state law).
Passion for working with children and families.
Patience empathy and excellent communication skills.
Ability to calm anxious children and create a fun friendly environment.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Attention to detail and commitment to infection control.
Team player with a positive attitude.
