Job Summary
The IT Director will plan coordinate and direct the development implementation deployment and operational activities for the assigned area of responsibility. Ensures the department aligns to the business units and other IT support organizations to ensure overall success of the company. Responsible for providing strategic input to senior management and for developing business plans that support both the longterm and shortterm objectives of the company.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops a strong working knowledge of clients and users business. Coordinates and drives the business relationship with key internal partners and significant external partners.
- Provides input to the strategic direction of IT directly influencing the business direction in new and existing products and systems.
- Participates in the development of the strategic information technology plan processes and solutions.
- Develops IT business and resource plans that support both the longterm and the shortterm objectives of the company.
- Creates and maintains project controls that accurately reflect completed work against project plans schedules and budgets and ensure user/management involvement at appropriate milestones.
- Directs the development and reporting of performance metrics and direct actions to continuously improve managing the business of IT.
- Operates areas of responsibility within approved budgets and staffing levels. Prepare management reports as needed.
- Ensures that projects meet clients and users business needs and expectations of quality.
- Communicates with the customer and IT management by producing monthly status reports that illustrate project progress against plans/budgets.
- Delivers presentations to senior management across the company to keep them informed of that status of IT initiatives and projects performance against planned objectives and future strategic directions and associated impact on expenses.
- Evaluates external advancements in the IT industry to improve customer/user satisfaction reduce operating expenses and maximize revenues and/or efficiency.
- Monitors and/or provide onthejob training performance assessment coaching motivation and counseling to employees to encourage optimum performance and continued skill development. Effectively plan and direct the organization and utilization of people and technology.
- Ensures department and employees are operating within all Chesapeake state federal etc. guidelines policies and regulations. Provides employees with guidance in handling policies procedures and service standards.
- Monitors and/or approves departmental administrative records and reports such as: timecards vacation requests status changes and expense reports.
- Approves and implement business processes for continuous improvement in procedures through optimum utilization of systems and personnel.
- Provides operational and strategic planning including fostering innovation planning projects and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
- Provides direct and indirect supervision of personnel. Participate in decisions involving hiring promotion compensation administration and termination of employment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
Minimum: Bachelors degree from accredited university IT MIS Computer Science or related field OR equivalent work experience may be substituted for education
Experience
Minimum: 12 15 years related work experience
