Job Description
We are looking for volunteer qualified counsellors to provide counselling support to individuals impacted by terminal illness.
What we need you to do:
Your role will include some of but is not restricted to the following tasks:
- Provide counselling sessions for inpatients outpatients and bereaved loved ones.
- Identify when the level of support may be beyond the scope of counselling and that other professional help may be needed.
- To be supervised by a qualified external supervisor.
- Provide statistical records on a weekly basis to the hospice administration team.
- To follow Marie Curie policies standards and procedures.
- To attend monthly managerial supervision meetings at the Marie Curie Hospice
What skills or experience do you need
- Diploma in Counselling from a recognised body.
- The ability to work sensitively with people facing or experiencing loss.
- To be emotionally balanced and selfaware.
- To keep up to date with professional developments in counselling and Marie Curie policies and procedures.
- An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and the actions required when working with people who may be at risk to themselves or others.

What we ask of you:
- To provide two references from nonfamily members.
- To provide all relevant documents related to the role (this role will require an enhanced disclosure check).
- To complete a full induction and any training related to the role.
