Job Description

Position Description

The Education & Instructional Design Specialist at Touchstone Institute will play a pivotal role in supporting the organizations learning education and assessment activities as outlined in the new strategic plan. This role involves working across various departments to design develop and implement effective learning programs and instructional materials to create effective programming to enhance the skills and knowledge of our staff partners and stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative technologyenabled learning and assessment programs including developing standards guidelines processes roles and evidenceinformed best practices across a broad range of learning modalities
  • Collaborate with Touchstone leadership team design team and subject matter experts to identify education training and assessment needs and develop comprehensive training plans for activities and events such as an Orientation Program for Physicians entering into a preresidency program in Ontario.
  • Design and develop engaging instructional materials including elearning modules workshops manuals and job aids for activities and events such as Assessor Training for practical exams for Nurses and Physicians.
  • Utilizing the program design and methodology create programming based on the blueprint/format that will be utilized for the particular learning education and assessment for activities and events such as Educational Equivalence exams for Nurses and Physicians.
  • Implement and manage training and education programs ensuring they align with the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training and education programs through assessments feedback and performance metrics.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in instructional design and adult learning principles.
  • Provide coaching and support to trainers and facilitators to ensure highquality delivery of training sessions.
  • Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) and ensure all training materials are accessible and up to date.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the organization.

Position Requirements:

Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of instructional design models and adult learning principles.
  • Knowledge of new and emerging innovations and methods in health professions education.
  • Proficiency in elearning authoring tools (e.g. Articulate Captivate) and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Understanding multimedia production and graphic design is an asset.
  • Simulationbased experiential learning for healthcare competencies and communication is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the experience of internationally educated professionals seeking licensure in regulated healthcare professions

Skills:

  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills enabling clear and professional communication with external stakeholders including subject matter experts examiners academics and regulators
  • Editing skills with strong ability to identify and correct syntax and semantic errors as well as biased and insensitive language
  • Analytical skills to assess training needs and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Proficient with learning management systems (Moodle) and instructional software (Articulate Adobe Premiere InDesign PowerPoint)
  • Creative and innovative mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Abilities:

  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs in a corporate or educational setting.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Ability to provide coaching and support to trainers and facilitators to ensure highquality delivery of training sessions.
  • Uses language that acknowledges diversity conveys respect to all people is sensitive to differences and promotes equal opportunities
  • Capability to effectively engage and train participants in both inperson and virtual environments.
  • Ability to develop and implement competencybased assessments to measure training effectiveness and learner progress.
  • Ability to foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in education Instructional Design Human Resources or a related field. A masters degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs in a corporate or educational setting. Teaching experience preferably with adults learning English as a second Language.
  • Experience with occupationspecific programming and assessment.
  • Certification in instructional design or training is a plus.
  • Experience with multimedia production and graphic design is an asset.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

We follow a hybrid work model with two designated inoffice days:Tuesdays and Wednesdays.Successful candidatesmust be availableto work onsite during these days.
