Job Description
UNM Medical Group Inc. is hiring for an Emergency Medicine Staff Physician to join our School of Medicine team at UNM. This opportunity is a oncall PRN day shift opening located in Albuquerque New Mexico.
Summary
Under indirect supervision provides and manages direct health care for a specified patient population.
Minimum Job Requirements of an Emergency Medicine Staff Physician:
Medical doctor with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty. State of New Mexico and Federal DEA Certification; Medical Specialty License or Certification; Board Certified or Board Eligible in specified area of medical specialty. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.
Duties and Responsibilities of an Emergency Medicine Staff Physician:
- Ability to observe assess and record symptoms reactions and progress.
- Ability to supervise advise and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.
- Knowledge of current principles methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
- Knowledge of relevant and nonpharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
- Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
- Ability to maintain quality safety and/or infection control standards.
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

About the Emergency Medicine Team with UNM School of Medicine:
The University of New Mexico Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking oncall physicians. In addition to supporting our EM residency program the oncall physicians will provide clinical care in both our academic and community hospital facilities.
The Department of Emergency Medicine has 72 fulltime and parttime attending physicians and is home to an outstanding EM Residency EMS Academy and Center for Disaster Medicine. UNM Health System is New Mexicos only Level I Trauma Center UNM Childrens Hospital home to the only Burn Center and the states first Comprehensive Stroke Center. UNM Health System providers specialize in over 150 areas and receive 900000 outpatient visits 22000 surgical cases and 100000 emergency room visits each year.
