Job Description

The Endpoint Technology Lifecycle Coordinator will play a vital role in orchestrating the universitys computer refresh program by managing the configuration and deployment of computers mobile devices and thin clients across campus. Working closely with the Field Services manager this role will coordinate deployment strategies lead a team of student employees and transform standard processes into streamlined experiences. The position requires strong technical skills in software packaging and system administration across Windows and macOS environments combined with the ability to build effective working relationships and maintain clear priorities. Success in this role comes from effectively coordinating multiple variables focusing on key objectives and continuously improving processes while working as part of a collaborative team. Youll have regular exposure to new tools and systems and the opportunity to explore and evaluate emerging technologies.

Position Specific Responsibilities

Computer Lifecycle Management

  • Work with the Field Services manager to create and optimize flexible deployment strategies that adapt to changing priorities and unexpected challenges

  • Establish and track clear timelines for major deployment initiatives ensuring projects stay on schedule while maintaining flexibility for critical adjustments

  • Mentor and develop student employees by providing comprehensive technical training fostering professional workplace skills and building their capabilities across a range of IT support functions

  • Oversee daily computer preparation workflow coordinating with student employees to ensure proper application of software settings security policies and peripheral setup

  • Build effective working relationships with customers to understand their needs while implementing solutions that align with university technology standards

  • Collaborate with Learning Space and Lab Technology team on classroom and lab deployments

  • Support the Field Services manager in executing projects such as major operating system upgrades mass software patches and hardware lifecycle initiatives

  • Partner with Asset Specialist to maintain inventory of standard computers and peripherals

  • Coordinate with departments and Asset Specialist to manage timely return and processing of universityowned computers

  • Maintain and manage loaner laptop program including checkin/checkout procedures and regular maintenance

  • Identify opportunities to enhance deployment efficiency while maintaining quality standards

Application Packaging and Imaging

  • Partner with the Field Services manager to develop and maintain effective software deployment strategies focusing on automation and zerotouch deployment to maximize efficiency while maintaining exceptional quality standards

  • Package software for automated deployment through Intune and Jamf utilizing PowerShell Batch and Bash scripting to configure licensing and settings during installation

  • Create automation solutions that streamline deployment processes while maintaining high quality standards

  • Build and expand application packaging expertise through selfdirected learning and handson project experience

  • Evaluate and thoroughly test new software and major OS upgrades in nonproduction environments ensuring system compatibility and compliance with change management workflows

  • Collaborate with Information Security and Field Services manager to package and deploy security patches and maintain software version compliance

  • Maintain a central software repository with updated installation files licenses and comprehensive documentation

  • Coordinate with Server team to manage regular updates and software installations for virtual desktop images utilized by faculty staff and students

  • Partner with ITS Purchasing and Server teams to track software license renewals and maintain network license server updates

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across IT teams to ensure seamless coordination of software deployments

Technical Skills

  • Configure and maintain desktop and laptop hardware and software including operating systems applications drivers and common peripherals (keyboards mice docking stations monitors printers etc.

  • Use a root cause analysis approach to troubleshoot technical problems promptly and efficiently serving as backup Tier 2 technical support for desktop laptop and mobile device issues

  • Perform data transfer and recovery operations during refresh deployments and other system transitions

  • Coordinate with external support vendors and service providers for hardware repairs and specialized technical issue remediation

  • Stay current with technical knowledge through continuous learning and professional development

  • Contribute to a culture of innovation through experimentation by researching testing and implementing new technical solutions to complex challenges

  • Apply technical expertise to support both Windows and macOS environments with focus on standardized university configurations

Customer Service

  • Cultivate strong working relationships across campus departments and colleges to better understand and anticipate their unique technology needs

  • Transform routine support interactions into positive experiences through attention to detail and clear technical communication to nontechnical users

  • Maintain focus on priorities while remaining flexible enough to handle urgent customer needs

  • Build trust with campus partners through reliable followthrough and consistent communication

  • Demonstrate professionalism through positive attitude appropriate dress and courteous demeanor

Documentation and Organization

  • Maintain and enhance existing technical documentation for software installation procedures packaging processes and standard operating procedures

  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation clarity and usability based on team feedback and common support scenarios

  • Track and update assigned tickets in ServiceNow according to established SLAs ensuring clear communication of progress and resolution

  • Develop and deliver training sessions for ITS staff on deployment processes technical procedures and best practices

  • Build upon the existing knowledge base of common solutions to streamline future deployments and support

  • Maintain an organized workspace and inventory management system for technical supplies and equipment

  • Create clear engaging training materials that effectively communicate technical concepts to ITS team members

Requisite Qualifications

  • Typically a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience . Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge skills and abilities needed to keep abreast of changes in technology.

  • Three years of related experience.

  • At least three certifications such as A MCP Microsoft 365 Modern Desktop Administrator Associate (or equivalent) Apple Certified HDI or Jamf 200 or higher.

  • Minimum 1 year of application packaging and deployment experience demonstrating:

    • Experience creating and optimizing software packages using scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell Batch Bash)

    • Track record of supporting enterprise operating systems (Windows and/or macOS)

    • Strong analytical skills in understanding system dependencies and troubleshooting through log analysis

    • Basic knowledge of common information security standards

  • Demonstrated excellence in:

    • Managing complex projects with multiple variables while maintaining clear priorities

    • Transforming standard processes into streamlined efficient solutions

    • Building collaborative relationships across teams

    • Adapting processes while staying focused on key objectives

    • Reading writing and following technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in packaging applications for deployment through Jamf

  • Experience as a team lead or managing student employees
