    The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Per Diem Teacher Various Locations.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
    1. New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate Certificate of Eligibility (CE) Certificate of Eligibility with Advance Standing (CEAS) or Valid NJ DOE Substitute Teachers Certificate or

    2. 30 College Credits or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university andNJ DOE Substitute Teacher Credential
    3. District and State fingerprint credentialing required and clearance.
    4. Principal recommendation and evaluation by a school principal (if applicable).
    5. Ability to read write speak understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille mayalso be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
    6. Authorized to work in the USA.
    (Preferred Qualifications)
    1. Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university. Official sealed college transcripts will be required upon hire.

    BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Substitute Teachers will supervise/manage students grades (K12.
    2. Substitute Teachers will adhere to daily and school schedules as noted.
    3. Substitute Teachers must be able to execute lessons as the curriculum dictates.
    4. Create plan and teach lesson if none is provided.
    5. Substitute Teachers will maintain a broad knowledge of all facets related to the teaching/educating assignment as related to the subject and grade level of the students.
    6. Return instructional materials equipment and keys to proper place. Leave classroom in a presentable manner.
    7. Collect and place students completed assignments on classroom teachers desk and note pertinent information resulting from the days event.
    8. Implement lesson plans while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
    9. Ensures the adequate supervision to assure health welfare and safety of all students.
    10. Maintain and establish a safe classroom setting promoting active learning and demonstrate good classroom management skills.
    11. Reports all students injuries accidents illnesses inappropriate behavior and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonable possible.
    12. Dismisses all students from the classroom/ playground before leaving the building.
    13. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to the substitute teachers as needed.

    REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL / HUMAN RESOURCE SERVICES

    SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT PERIOD
    1. Salary: Thirty 30 or Sixty 60 College credits: $150.00/day Bachelors degree: $180.00/day
    2. Employment Period: Ten 10 Months (District requires at least 15 days of service as substitute teacher during the school year) the school year.
    3. Union Affiliation: Newark Teachers Union (NTU)
    4. Benefits: None
    *Salary subject to change pending NTU contract negotiations.
