Job Description
We are seeking an instructor of Health and Physical Education with the ability to instruct a bulk of activity and Health and Physical Education courses. We are looking for individuals committed to education equity in culturally diverse communities. Measure student progress to encourage the mastery of school district/state/national standards Celebrate individual and collective accomplishments by teaching the importance of selfimprovement Create appealing lessons that implement a variety of methodologies Cultivate student awareness and ownership of personal performance Design plan and implement physical education lessons based on school district/state/national standards Encourage teamwork as to set collective and personal development goals Ensure accommodations and modifications are made for the growth and development of all students Ensure that the physical education environment is clean safe and constructive for all students Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness rhythms and dance health education and individual dual and team sports Demonstrate the use of proven researchbased strategies for effective classroom management lesson planning active student engagement and instructional delivery Support a schools share vision and common goals regarding physical education and physical activity Saint Augustines University SAU drawing on its rich legacy as an access institution is a studentfocused comprehensive educational institution that produces outstanding graduates prepared for personal and professional success. SAU was established in 1867 in Raleigh NC by the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina. A fouryear liberal arts university with an average enrollment of approximately 1000 SAU sits on 105 lush acres just north of Downtown Raleigh NC. The institution offers more than 20 undergraduate degrees and a Master of Public Administration MPA Program and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges SACSCOC . Required Qualifications
Masters degree in Health and Physical Education Ph.D./Ed.D. in Physical Education preferred or closely related field. Demonstrate effective oral and written skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing courses and curriculum in health and physical education Proven ability to develop and deliver online courses Experience working in K12 education or higher education Previous higher education teaching and research experience. Demonstrate commitment and ability to work effectively within a diverse university learning and teaching environment. Understanding of higher education systems. Knowledge of best teaching practices for health and physical education classrooms. Ability to work collaboratively with college faculty and college students.
