Job Description
THE POSITION
Play an important role in the lives of inmates! The State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix is seeking a Service Corrections Teacher Corrections Education to instruct the inmates at the institution in Warehouse Operations and Material Handling. In this position you will help inmates learn vocational skills that they will be able to utilize upon reentry into their communities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Service Occupations Teacher you will provide vocational instruction in warehouse operations and material handling to inmate students at SCI Phoenix. In this position you will evaluate inmate potential for consideration and placement within the programs curriculum and adapt materials to meet the needs of students. You can expect to provide classroom and shop instruction assign and evaluate homework develop and administer tests and provide a final evaluation for each enrolled student. You will also monitor inmate behavior establish classroom rules and procedures and discipline disruptive students by taking appropriate corrective action and documenting said actions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Fulltime employment
- Work hours are 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch.
- Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:- Education equivalent to high school graduation and two years wage earning experience beyond the completed apprenticeship period in the specified parenthetical; or
- If there is no approved apprenticeship period for the specified parenthetical education equivalent to high school graduation and three years of wage earning experience in the specified parenthetical.

Special Requirements:
- Possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Certificate 1 or 2 for the specified parenthetical; or
- Possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Intern Certificate for the specified parenthetical; or
- Eligibility for a Pennsylvania Department of Education Emergency Certificate for the specified parenthetical.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
