This contract will be in support of the Department of Interior (DOI) Orphan Wells Program Office (OWPO) to provide cultural resource support. Job Classification This position is classified as exempt. Duties and Responsibilities - Procedure Development: Develop NEPA implementation procedures for new government agencies ensuring they align with federal regulations and best practices.
- NEPA Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with NEPA regulations including categorical exclusions environmental assessments (EA) and environmental impact statements (EIS).
- Documentation: Prepare and review NEPA documentation including EAs EISs and categorical exclusion determinations.
- Project Management: Support project planning and ensuring environmental considerations are integrated into decisionmaking processes.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with federal state and local agencies as well as community stakeholders to gather input and address concerns.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to identify potential environmental impacts and develop mitigation strategies.
- Training and Guidance: Provide training and guidance to project teams on NEPA requirements and best practices.
- Reporting: Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and regulatory agencies.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications: - Travel may be required up to 510
- 510 years of experience in NEPA planning and environmental compliance. Experience with Department of Defense projects is a plus.
- Must hold a bachelors degree in Biology Anthropology Archeology Architectural History Architecture Historic Preservation Environmental Science Urban Planning or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
- Strong analytical writing and communication skills. Proficiency in environmental impact analysis and NEPA documentation.
- Thorough understanding of NEPA regulations categorical exclusions and environmental assessment processes.
- Other certifications/licenses are a plus.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written
- Good problem solving skills and able to work well independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft (Word Excel PowerPoint Project and Access)
- May be required to undergo a standard background check along with verification of education requirements
Physical Requirements - The physical demands described herein are representative of those which may need to be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in an office environment.
- If required employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time to visit other company sites. Must have hearing and speech to communicate in person before groups and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. This position may require an employee to bend stoop kneel crouch crawl climb or balance reach push and pull. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Salary and Benefits: - $70000 to $110000 DOE
