Job Summary:
The Project Grant Financial Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing financial aspects of grantfunded projects. This includes budget preparation financial reporting grant compliance and audit coordination to ensure that grant funds are used effectively and in accordance with donor guidelines and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Prepare monitor and manage grant budgets to ensure appropriate allocation of funds.
- Maintain accurate financial records of grantrelated transactions ensuring compliance with grant agreements.
- Prepare periodic financial reports for grantors ensuring timely submission and adherence to reporting requirements.
- Perform grantrelated financial analysis identifying variances and making recommendations for corrective actions.
Compliance & Audit Support:
- Ensure compliance with grant terms conditions and financial regulations.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
- Monitor and track grant expenditures to prevent overspending or noncompliance.
Coordination & Communication:
- Work closely with program managers grant coordinators and other stakeholders to provide financial guidance and support.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and financial plans for new grant applications.
- Liaise with funding agencies and donors regarding financial matters ensuring clear communication and documentation.
Process Improvement & Documentation:
- Develop and enhance financial tracking and reporting systems for grant management.
- Maintain detailed documentation of grant financial activities for transparency and accountability.
- Provide training and support to project staff on financial procedures and compliance requirements.
Qualifications :
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or a related field.
- CPA CMA or other relevant certifications preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in grant accounting financial management or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of grant regulations (e.g. GAAP IFRS funderspecific guidelines such as USAID EU UN).
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems.
- Excellent analytical problemsolving and attentiontodetail skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience with nonprofit or government grant funding is a plus.
