Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in related field
Knowledge of deescalation and behavior intervention techniques
Valid Texas teachers certificate in special education
Three years classroom experience
Ability to work with school staff and parents
Experience working with students with emotional/behavioral problems
Knowledge in working with students with emotional/behavioral problems
Knowledge of state and federal special education laws
Excellent written and communication skills
Primary Purpose:
Provide intervention consultation and training to general education and special education staff in meeting the educational needs of students with behavioral issues and social skills deficits in a variety of educational environments.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Interactive white board computer printer copier overhead projector DVDNCR and other emerging technologies which are particularly unique to the assignment. Instructional and productivity software as required by the assignment.
Maintain emotional control under stress. Varied stressful interpersonal situations and crisis management. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Moderate lifting and carrying of 1544 pounds. Frequent standing stooping bending kneeling pushing and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks media equipment desks and other classroom or adaptive equipment. Prolonged use of a computer and repetitive hand motions. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through prescribed holding techniques when necessary; and assist nonambulatory students. Exposure to biological hazards.
