Role Description
The Spooler Operator is responsible for transferring wire from bobbins onto the correct bobbins for production.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Sort and organize partial bobbins returned from machines combining partial bobbins into full bobbins.
- Load wire bobbins into letoff stands using a mechanical hoist as staged by the Wire Clerk.
- Load empty bobbin in the spooler takeup.
- Thread wire through guides and tension rollers and fasten to bobbin in takeup.
- Weld leading end of new supply to trailing end of wound wire when required.
- Engage spooler and observe operation to ensure proper winding and prevent tangles.
- Make adjustments as required to ensure proper tension and uniformity of winding.
- Remove full bobbins from takeup and stage in trays or proper storage area and attach proper tags.
- Record all production and maintain a running total of wire spooled for special orders.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area by disposing of all s and debris in proper containers.
- Perform all job duties in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.
- Responsible for his/her own safety and the safety of those around the machine.
- Regular attendance punctuality and the ability to work scheduled shifts including overtime when necessary.
- Responsible for removing s wire from bobbins to return to wire mill and to complete daily duties.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Required Qualifications
- Willingness and ability to learn how to operate precision measuring instruments including micrometers.
- Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for up to 12hour shifts
- Spooling Operators will be required to use JDE TranCollector scan guns to issue and return material from a work order. Scan guns will also be used to record production and print production tags.
- Spooling Operators must possess math skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Spooling Operators must have the ability to use and read tape measure feeler gauge and basic hand tools.
- The position requires the ability to lift carry push and pull up to 35 lbs on a regular basis.
- Candidates must be able to safely handle materials and equipment as needed following proper lifting techniques and workplace safety guidelines. Occasional bending reaching and standing for extended periods may also be required
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent or 13 years manufacturing experience
Materials and Equipment Directly Used
- Respooling machine wire cutters welder micrometer wrenches mechanical hoist.
- Personal protective equipment including safety glasses hearing protection gloves and steeltoed safety shoes
