Definition of Classification:
The Assistant Director Residential Life Salzburg Program assists in cultivating and maintaining a livinglearning community among the students studying abroad at the Bildungsverein der Universitt von Redlands in a manner consistent with student life on the University of Redlands campus in Redlands California USA.
Reporting to the Salzburg Director the role provides leadership direction and supervision to the residential community. Ensures an environment that is conducive to engagement growth learning and meaningful interactions among students in residence and with the wider Salzburg community. Assists the Director with emergency coverage both in Salzburg and on group excursions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Facilitates community meetings communicates student concerns to the Director and helps students to manage any conflicts or challenges.
Assists in maintaining good relations with the Pallotine Order and the community of Salzburg.
Coordinates activities pertaining to the predeparture orientation of students arrivals and departures in cooperation with the Office of Study Away at the University of Redlands California USA.
Assists in coordinating student recruitment activities on the University of Redlands campus California USA.
Assists students with travel plans and maintaining records of students independent travel and contact information.
Assists the Director on all group excursions typically 3 per semester for up to 9 days at time.
Manages household recycling and linens and educational visits to community service providers (e.g. Caritas).
Assists the Director faculty and staff in developing new student life programming (e.g. outdoor programs tandem activities with Austrian students) in coordination with the Office of Student Life on the University of Redlands campus California USA.
Manages group meals in Salzburg two days per week; makes reservations negotiates menus payments and finds new providers.
Manages checkin and checkout process for students and any student guests.
Assists with facilities maintenance by reporting issues and serving as secondary contact for service providers.
Collaborative management of community spaces in the Mnchsberg 21 residence.
Curates the social media presence of the Salzburg program and campus.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualification Guidelines
Any combination equivalent to but not limited to the following:
Experience/Training/Education:
Bachelors degree in a related field.
Masters degree in a relevant field related to student life study abroad or counseling is preferred.
Hiring conditional upon receipt of Austrian work visa (facilitation by Director of Salzburg program)
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of trends implementation of effective practices that result in student engagement.
Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate employees and influence attitudes and behaviors.
Effective organizational skills ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
Experience with staff and/or volunteer management and the ability to supervise develop and mentor direct reports.
Excellent verbal and written communication including the ability to give presentations and interact with diverse populations.
Ability to be imaginatively innovative; think creatively critically and strategically in planning executing and evaluating programs and events.
Ability to take initiative.
Ability to give clear directives and use independent judgment to make optimal decisions.
Strong interpersonal and networking skills to collaborate effectively with multiple diverse constituencies.
Ability to use computer technology and systems.
Ability to be flexible and adaptable.
Must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students faculty and staff.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Working Conditions:
Standard office and field setting. Duties performed are primarily in an office environment while sitting at a desk or computer workstation or in meetings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort. The position requires working evenings and weekends. Travel may be required.
Physical Demands:
Incumbents regularly sit for long periods; walk on a regular basis; travel to various locations to attend meetings and conduct work; use hands and fingers to operate an electronic keyboard or other office machines; reach with hands and arms; stoop or kneel or crouch to file; climb stairs; speak clearly and distinctly to answer telephones and to provide information; see to read fine print and operate computer; hear and understand voices over telephone and in person; and lift carry and/or move objects weighing up to 1020 pounds.

HIRING RANGE:Anticipated hiring range is near or at the minimum of the classification commensurate with candidates education experience skills and training. The University of Redlands is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience skills knowledge abilities education licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is defined as the Full Pay Range. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is defined as theHiring Range. Placement within the Hiring Range is determined by internal equity and relevant qualifications.
