Job Description

SUPERINTENDENT WASTEWATER TREATMENT

ENTACT is actively seeking an experienced Superintendent Wastewater Treatment in the environmental remediation and geotechnical construction industry. Candidates must be open to sustained projectbased travel within the US at least 80 of the time. Project locations will vary depending on the assignment. Candidates can reside anywhere within the US.
Position Summary:
The position of Superintendent Wastewater Treatment will be responsible for the wastewater treatment system through the full lifecycle of the project. This individual will exhibit a high level of knowledge of wastewater treatment systems within the environmental remediation industry. Associate must be open to periods of sustained projectbased travel. HAZWOPER training is highly preferred but not required. Must have a valid Drivers license with no driving restrictions which interfere with job requirements.
Essential Job Function:
  • Plan lead and direct work in a safe compliant manner.
  • Review proposed wastewater treatment system approach and equipment specifications.
  • Must be able to provide input to the design team for treatment steps equipment system setup operation and demobilization schedule.
  • Review and provide feedback on estimates for the wastewater treatment system mobilization construction commissioning operation and demobilization.
  • Travel to project site and support the offloading setup mechanical and electrical construction of the wastewater treatment system.
  • Begin commissioning the wastewater treatment system when construction nears completion.
  • Upon the completion of construction and commissioning startup wastewater treatment system and train ENTACT Associates to operate the system.
  • Operate more complex wastewater treatment systems requiring advanced operational knowledge such as chemical flocculants coagulants precipitation pH adjustment or other chemicals used to remove chemicals of concern.
  • Analyze process issues and provide solutions to existing wastewater treatment projects.
  • Supervise disassembly decontamination preparation of shipment and loading of all wastewater treatment equipment for project sites.
  • Repair inhouse equipment as necessary to continue wastewater treatment operation.
  • Prepare equipment in good working order prior to demobilization.
Skills/Experience Required:
  • Ability to utilize a computer and associated software including Microsoft Word Excel Email and Adobe Acrobat
  • Must be knowledgeable in mechanical applications for piping hoses pumps and electrical generators.
  • Must be able to install and program pH controllers chemical feed systems and other meter such as flow turbidity etc.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs related to documentation including plans manufacturer manuals drawings specifications budget safety policies and HR policies
  • Must have Illinois Class R or Class K or Nebraska Industrial Class 2 License.
  • Experience supervising wastewater operators preferred.
  • Knowledge of wastewater operation and permit criteria.
Physical Demands/Visual Requirements:
Physical visual and situational activities that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job include but are not limited to:
  • Work is performed while standing or walking outdoors or in an office environment.
  • Must be capable of working under physical stress conditions such as heat stress and cold stress during various weather conditions and potentially long workdays
  • Possibility of use of respiratory equipment (i.e. halfface fullface SCBA etc.
  • Heat extremes when wearing certain types of PPE. Wear Level C and D PPE including cotton Tyvek chemical protective coveralls eye and face protection hand protection etc. Potential for Level A and B PPE exists
  • Climbing stairs and/or ladders to reach elevated workstations
  • Working on elevations such as scaffolding bridges buildings etc.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 1 to 25 lbs. on a regular basis and may be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Donning of varying types of personal protective equipment (PPE) as project requirements and conditions warrant. Minimum PPE includes steel toe safety boots hard hat safety glasses ear plugs and reflective safety vest
  • Working in loud or noisy environments
  • Ability to give clear and precise verbal and written instruction to all crew members including when under pressure
  • Match or detect differences between colors including shades of color and brightness
  • See objects or movement of objects to ones side when the eyes are focused forward
  • Hear the direction from which a sound originated
  • Smell odors to protect themselves and others from hazardous/unknown atmospheres
  • Frequent facetoface interaction with others. Listening to what other people are saying and asking questions as appropriate
  • Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:
Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job include:
  • Outside construction site onsite office space
  • The terrain is rugged and may be difficult to navigate.
  • Hot environments.
  • Confined spaces
  • Noisy work environments controlled to levels at or below exposure limits
  • Contaminated atmosphere exposures (i.e. fumes vapors lead dust H2S etc. controlled to levels at or below exposure limits
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Different types of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be worn including but not limited to hard hat hearing protection such as ear plugs or muffs eye protection such as safety glasses goggles face shield etc. welders helmet safety vest various types of gloves including leather Nitrile latex etc. steel toe boots and various respiratory protection such as dust masks half face and full face respirators SCBAs APRs etc. may be required depending on site conditions. Protective coveralls include cotton Tyvek fire ant chemical protective etc.
