Job Description

The Learning Community a vibrant public charter school that centers the voices of students families and teachers seeks a collaborative dedicated speech and language pathologist passionate about supporting students to grow academically and socioemotionally. Day to Day Responsibilities:Providing formal and informal evaluation of speech/language skills of K8 students. Writing detailed reports reviewing results and providing recommendations to families and multidisciplinary team.Developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEP) addressing specific goals and objectives with measurable outcomes. Monitoring student progress through collection of data. Scheduling students in support of educational plan requirements. Maintaining written documentation of all evaluations IEP goals progress notes and communication in a compliant and timely manner.Selecting and utilizing therapeutic materials effectively with individuals and small groups of students. Providing consultation to general and/or special education team members regarding student needs and best practices.Facilitating social skills groups with K8 students. Participating actively cooperatively and constructively as a member of the multidisciplinary team. Working cooperatively and collaboratively with families teachers and professionals in related disciplines. Assessing and maintaining adaptive and augmentative equipment to facilitate the functional communication needs of students.Remaining current with appropriate instructional theory practice and research. Engaging in regular and strategic professional development to stay current in best practices for diverse learners.Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position all candidates must be certified or in the process of certification in the state of Rhode Island and must be U.S. citizens or residents or have work visas. In addition they must demonstrate:Masters degree in the area of SpeechLanguage Pathology is requiredExperience with diverse populations preferredAt least 1 year of experience in a school setting preferred RIDE certification as a SpeechLanguage PathologistLicensure as a registered SpeechLanguage Pathologist from the Rhode Island Department of HealthCertificate of Clinical Competence from ASHABeing a reliable collaborative and consistently strong colleague and teammate. Our teams work closely together share some planning time weekly and build on each others insights and strengths with students to meet their shared achievement goals. To excel at the Learning Community they must be great at communicating with others working through conflict supporting other team members and asking for the support needed. They also need to keep their commitments showing up for themselves their students and their colleagues as they promise they will.Strong problemsolving skills judgment and resilience. As an educator in an urban school setting things dont always go to plan: a lesson fails with students a facilities issue happens a parent expresses feedback in a rough way a policy you dont love gets introduced it happens. Team members that thrive at the Learning Community are excellent at rebounding from setbacks shaking off a mistake and learning and problemsolving to meet their goals. They bring creativity problemsolving and an adaptable approach to most challenges while keeping student safety and respect for our students parents and school community front and center in their choices.Strong emotional intelligence and communication skills especially in conflict or for trickier decisions. This position is a fulltime direct service based at the Learning Community Charter School in Central Falls Rhode Island. All instructional team members are expected to work 7:453:15 pm with planning time daily and lunch/break time every day.Salary. For this role our budgeted compensation range is $46798$91038 with $46798 representing the juniormost step in our scale and $91038 representing the seniormost step in our scale.Bonus. $2500 after 3 months employment $2500 after 6 months employment Vacation and Benefits. In addition we are proud to currently offer:Medical Insurance: 82 of annual premium paid by Learning Community for single or family plans.Retirement: Participation in the State of RI Teacher Pension Plan.Life Insurance: $50k life insurance plan free of charge while employed by LC.Time off: 8 weeks of vacation throughout the school year; 12 paid holidays; 13 paid sick days/2 paid personal days per year.Optional Insurance: Vision/Dental/Additional Life/Short Term Disability 100 employee paid.
