Job Description

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Harm Reduction Manager the Administrative Assistant provides highlevel administrative support to the Harm Reduction Programs at Canton City Public Health. This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of program activities by managing administrative tasks coordinating logistics and maintaining compliance with grant deliverables. The role includes scheduling data tracking report preparation financial recordkeeping supply management and communication support for harm reduction initiatives including the Education and Naloxone Distribution Program (OENDP) and needle exchange services. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills attention to detail and a commitment to public health and harm reduction principles. This position is 100 grant funded.

Minimum Qualifications and Credentials:
Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five 5 years of experience in administrative support office management or program coordination preferably in a public health healthcare or nonprofit setting.
  • Preferred experience working with harm reduction substance use services or other public health initiatives.
  • Preferred experience with accounting and/or the administration of grants.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) and experience with data management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong problemsolving and criticalthinking abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Commitment to harm reduction principles health equity and public health best practices.
Licenses & Certifications:
  • Valid drivers license.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (e.g. program supplies inventory).
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed for program events and outreach efforts.

Work Environment:
The work environment for this position is primarily an office setting within a public health department with regular interaction in communitybased harm reduction program sites. The role requires occasional travel to outreach locations community events and meetings. City vehicles can be provided for work activities/work travel with supervisor approval. Work may involve direct engagement with individuals experiencing substance use homelessness or other social vulnerabilities. The position may require lifting program supplies and standing for extended periods during events. Safety protocols and harm reduction best practices are followed to ensure a secure and supportive environment for staff and clients.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO VETERANS

A member in good standing of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States including the Ohio National Guard who successfully completes the members initial entrylevel training shall receive a credit of fifteen percent 15 of the persons total grade given in the examination in which the person receives a passing grade.

Pursuant to Civil Service Rules applicants are hereby advised that the position of employment being examined for may be subject to a drug test. Accordingly eligibility is not considered final until drug testing has been successfully completed with a negative result.
