BronxWorks is hiring Two 2 Activity Specialist for the Nelson Ave Family Residence Program

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow all OSHA requirements
• Assist Program Director or Program Coordinator with the development of program goals and early childhood activities
• Assist in preparation of lesson plans in compliance with ACD regulations
• Create a nurturing and supportive environment for children
• Implement various early childhood educational recreational and social activities that foster development and growth
• Engage children in team building activities
• Assist an individual child or group of children with dressing and toilet training; change diapers; ensure sanitary conditions
• Provide classroom management
• Attend regular staff meetings
• Attend training sessions and workshops on early childhood education
• Meet monthly with program coordinator and/or program director for supervision
• Act as a liaison with parents
• Perform additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree (Education or Early Childhood preferred) Clearance through New York State Central Registry and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services
• First Aid Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Responding to Emergency (RTE) certification or ability to obtain within 36 months
• Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferred
• Two years of experience working in a day care preschool or special education setting preferred
• Clearance through New York State Central Registry (SCR) New York State Office of Children and Family Services Justice Centers Staff Exclusion List (SEL) and Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) required upon hire

PYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
• Ability to stand walk or sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to climb five flights of stairs if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
• Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
• Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
• Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather including inclement weather if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
