The Opportunity

We would like to hear from experienced leaders in our Support & Distribution Centre and Retail who are interested in being a coach in the Leader Apprenticeship Program and committing the necessary time and effort to support and develop their apprentice in leadership.

Do you enjoy developing others Do you have the time energy and desire to take on a new challenge Are you experienced or skilled in leadership If you answered Yes to all of these questions then you may be a good candidate for a coach.

Coaching is an excellent development opportunity. While apprentices benet from the advice guidance and encouragement of someone more skilled you get to develop coaching skills increase your inuence and gain a sense of personal satisfaction from taking an apprentice under your wing.

What does Coaching Look Like

The role of the coach in the Leader Apprenticeship Program is to support the apprentice in their development as they learn and build skills that will help them be successful in leadership. You can expect the time commitment to be approximately 24 hours a month while the participant is going through the 6 month program.

As a Coach you will be expected to:

  1. Plan and hold 1 to 2 scheduled checkin meetings with the participant during each of the 6 program module to:
    • Review the content covered in the module facilitated sessions
    • Provide honest feedback on the challenges the apprentice might face as a leader
    • Celebrate the development of skills with the apprentice
    • Identify and provide feedback to the apprentice on where further development is still needed and provide related coaching
  2. Hold informal Checkins using Microsoft Teams calls or messaging.
    • Encouraging the participant to reach out if they have questions
    • Reach out to the participant if there is information you would like to share

*Resources and supports will be provided to coaches before the program starts and during the process to ensure they are setup for success.
