Job Description
General Summary/Overview Statement:
Under general supervision performs all welding required in the fabrication and repair and design of metal equipment. Uses acetylene heliarc and electrical welding equipment. Burning equipment oxyacetylene for demolition of tanks beams pipes coils etc. throughout the hospital facilities and its satellites. Responsible for snow removal as needed.
Principal Duties and Responsbilities:
1. Receives work assignments and reviews sites with supervisor.
2. Plans activities necessary to complete projects following work orders layout blueprints and/or oral instructions.
3. Welds highpressure pipelines; demolition work via burning or cutting welds to fabricated steel parts.
4. Assures proper safety procedures are followed for prevention of fire and evacuation of smoke and fumes.
5. Complete installation of fabricated and/or repaired welded metal pieces. May supervise helpers assisting them with installation. Operates hydraulic lifts for hanging units to fabricated superstructure.
6. Fabrication and/or repairs operating room equipment security screens doors door guards railings food service equipment snow removal equipment structural supports piping for translogic systems.
7. Completes daily record of jobs completed for use in preparation of chargebacks for services rendered. Completion of weekly and monthly forms.
8. May be required to assist other trades if so needed.
9. Performance of preventive maintenance where required.
10. Responsible for snow removal as needed.
11. Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:
May supervise one or more employees.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
Complete daily hours worked via IPad for chargeback purposes.
Skills & Abilities Required:
1.All of the above mentioned in QUALIFICATIONS and including obtaining required certification.
2.Occasionally (less than 15 of the time) must exert effort to lift over seventy pounds.
Working Conditions:
1. Compliance with the Hospital and department rules on uniforms in addition to the Buildings & Grounds policy and procedure manual.
2. The use of safety equipment such as: respirators safety glasses safety shoes etc. on specific job assignments.
a) Pass respirator clearance exam b) along with compliance with Hospitals universal precaution rules.
3. Understand and practice patient confidentiality (HIPPA)
4. Understand and practice infection control through proper dust containment. Understand the use of the environmental containment booths.
5. Is subject to call any time for emergencies due to increment weather special project or plant failure.
6. Works in shops area and throughout the Hospital where there is exposure to dust and dirt fumes and times hazardous conditions.
7. May also work in conditions of extreme heat and cold.
8. Provide own hand tools.
Qualifications:
1. Vocational School graduate or equivalent.
2. Ability to operate acetylene heliarc electric welding equipment and cutting torch.
3. Knowledge of welding materials tools and equipment expected of an incumbent with at least 10 years of experience.
4. Ability to work from blueprints and design items independently.
5. Must have a hoisting engineer license.
6. Excellent handeye coordination a must.
7. Physical ability to lift moderately heavy objects such as pieces of pipe walk bend stoop and climb.
