Job Description

Boys Town has a broad mission of saving children and healing families. We are seeking an individual who is mission driven and passionate about helping others and possesses solid communication skills. In the role of Grants and Contracts Accountant II you will be responsible for preparing monitoring and maintaining financial records and reports for grants and contracts accounting activities across the enterprise.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Prepares monitors and maintains financial records and reports for grants and contract activities; processes reports in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with departmental procedures.

  • Reviews grant budgetary appropriateness completeness and conformity with Boys Town policies.

  • Prepares financial reports property reports and all other required interim and closeout reports for grants and contracts.

  • Prepares monthly and annual schedules of grants and contracts liabilities and receivables reconciliations in connection with the Homes financial statement audit.

  • Prepares monthly invoices to grantor agencies for expense reimbursement and periodic electronic cash drawdowns for grants reimbursed through the federal payment management system. Applies payments received in the system.

  • Prepares detailed financial and statistical annual reports for the sites relating to the state per diem rate setting procedures.

  • Reviews reports and analyzes trends or problem areas and discusses them with appropriate management.

  • Maintains knowledge of USDA guidelines and grant and contract requirements at the federal and state level.

  • Creates and maintains awards in the system.

  • Prepares analyzes reviews and inputs journal entries into the system.

  • Assists with the completion of audits including preparing detailed schedules and reports relating to federal financial assistance researching and determining sources of funds for grants federal nonfederal and federal flowthrough monies and preparing financial statements and work papers along with necessary documentation for other audits.

  • Assists with the completion of grant and contract proposals and other grant accounting contract analysis and compliance activities including reviewing grants and contract proposals providing guidance and support to program staff and training on reporting practices and guidelines.

  • Assists with contract proposal analysis financial feasibility studies cost accounting and special studies projects.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of accounting practices and principles.

  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations as they pertain to documentation standards and processing of accounting transactions.

  • Ability to interpret regulations financial reports and legal documents.

  • High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent critical thinking analytical and problemsolving skills.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Excel and Word.

  • Ability to communicate in an articulate professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently meet deadlines and multitask while maintaining quality standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or business administration required or a minimum of 5 years accounting experience required.

  • Other Duties: This job description incorporates the essential functions and duties required for this position. However other duties may be required and assigned at times and as determined by a supervisor in order to meet the needs of the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS EQUIPMENT USAGE WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop monitor keyboard and a general workstation setup.
