About the area
UWA is undergoing a significant transformation enhancing its approach to risk integrity and compliance to align with its future ambitions. As part of this the Risk Integrity Safety and Compliance (RISC) division is expanding and redefining roles to strengthen bestpractice frameworks and foster a proactive risk management and compliance culture.

RISC oversees the Universitys policy risk management and compliance frameworks driving enterprisewide risk integration and a strong culture of integrity. Its remit includes health safety & wellbeing enterprise risk integrity & standards internal audit policy & compliance and information governance.

The newly established Policy & Compliance team will play a key role within RISC helping to lift UWAs policy and compliance maturity. This team reflects a structured and coordinated approach to policy development and compliance reinforcing UWAs commitment to effective risk management.

About the opportunity

  • Lead the development implementation and management of universitywide policy and compliance frameworks to ensure clarity consistency and regulatory alignment.
  • Oversee compliance monitoring and reporting advising senior leadership on legislative changes obligations and strategic compliance management.
  • Provide expert advice on the development and maintenance of University policies and lead a team of policy and compliance advisors providing training and support to stakeholders across the University.

About you

  • You will have a tertiary qualification in law governance business administration or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in policy development and compliance management within complex institutions preferably in higher education.
  • Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements impacting Australian universities including TEQSA and government frameworks.
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to mentor teams and build relationships across all levels.
  • Excellent analytical problemsolving and communication skills both written and verbal.

Special Requirements

  • A current National Police Clearance Certificate.
